15th – 17th September 2006:
First Literary Festival in Lviv (German: Lemberg)/Ukraina: Readings, general and penal discussions concerning the subject: „Young literature in Central and Eastern Europe“


Within the scope of this year’s book fair in Lviv/Ukraina, the first Lviv literary festival took place from September 15th to 17th. In cooperation with the Allianz Culture Foundation, the Lviv book fair and the LCB the authors Juri Andruchowytsch (Ukraina), Thomas Brussig (Germany), Marius Ivaskevicius (Lithuania), Irena Karpa (Ukraina), Andrej Khadanovich (Belarus), Dorota Maslowska (Poland), Martin Pollack (Austria), Ingo Schulze (Germany), Sergej Timofejev (Latvia) und Serhij Zhadan (Ukraina) were invited to Lviv.

Apart from numerous readings in different city locations, two penal discussions were central to the festival. Topics were: "European Borderlands: Geopoetics" and "What is a Writer? Post-postmodern Perspectives". For these penal discussions, authors had prepared written statements or read extracts from their literary work, which was available to festival visitors both in the original language and in Ukraininan, English and German translation. Accompanying the festical, a festival-almanach was published which included texts, pictures, biographies and bibliographies of all participants.
