Life:
Eugenijus Ališanka studied Mathematics and was a research assistant at the Institute for Culture and Arts in Vilnius. Between 1994 and 2002, he was the director for international programmes at the Lithuanian Writer’s Union and editor in chief of the literary newspaper The Vilnius. Among others, he published five volumes of poetry – Lygiadienis (“Equinox“, 1991), Peleno miestas (“City of Ash“, 1995), Dievakaulis (“God’s Bones“, 1999), Iš neparašytų istorijų (“From Unwritten Stories“, 2002) and Exemplum (2006) – as well as two collections of essays. Parts of his work have been translated into French, German, Polish, Swedish, Russian and Finnish.
