Life:
Vladas Braziūnas grew up in in Pasvalys in Northern Lithuania, and studied Journalism and Philology in Vilnius. He contributed to many cultural and literary publications and was editor in chief of the weekly newspaper Literatūra ir menas (“Literature and Art“). Since 1996, he is a freelance writer; he is a poet, essayist and translator of poetry (et al. from Latvian, French, Belarusian, Polish, Russian, Serbian and Ukrainian). Braziūnas’ literary debut, the volume of poetry Slenka žaibas (“The Lightning Bolt’s Drift“), was published in 1983. For this debut, he was awarded the Zigmas–Gėlė–Prize in 1984. Several volumes of poetry followed, such as: 1986, Voro stulpas (“The Spider’s Pillar“); 1998 Užkalinėti (“Nailing it“); 2002 lėmeilėmeilėmeilė (“ofloveofloveoflove “); 2005 Iš naminio audinio dainos (“Songs of house-weaven fabric“). In 2006, Vladas Braziūnas founded the Magnus Ducatus Poesis society, which unites Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, Latvian, Russian poets and other artists.
