Daiva Čepauskaitė is a poet and playwright. She studied medicine and later stagecraft in Kaunas, yet never worked as a medic. Since 1990, she works as a regular actress at the Kaunas Youth Chamber Theater. She writes poetry and fairy tales, and has published three volumes of poetry: Bevardžiai ("Nameless", 1992), Suvalgiau vieną spanguolę ("I’ve eaten a cranberry", 1998), and Nereikia tikriausiai būtina ("Unnecessary (Though) Likely Essential", 2004). For the latter, she was the awardee of the 41st Lithuanian Poetry Spring in 2005. Čepauskaitė’s poetry was translated into numerous languages.
