Gintaras Grajauskas studied Jazz at the State Academy of Music in Klaipėda. He worked as a journalist at radio- and TV stations, and works for the daily newspaper Klaipėda since 1994. Since 1996, he is the editor of the literary supplement Gintaro lašai (“Drops of Amber“). He writes poetry, essays, plays, and novels. He debuted in 1993 with the volume of poetry Tatuiruotė (“Tattoo“), for which he was awarded the Zigmas-Gėlė-Prize. Kaulinė dūdelė (“A Bone Pipe“, 1999) was distinguished with the Prize of the “Poetry Spring“ 2000 and with the Simonaitytės-Prize. In 2003, Grajauskas received the Prize of the Lithuanian Cultural Ministry, in 2007 he was awarded the Golden Stage Cross for the play Mergaitė, kurios bijojo Dievas (“A Girl Whom God Was Afraid of”). His poets were translated, among others, into English, German, French, Swedish and Polish, and were multiply distinguished.
